    breathing - I have heard contrary remark. Inhale up the pull or exertion. It gives OXYGEN to your muscles. Like an direct boost of energy.

      There are a few things you can try there: a better warmup for example. You can try to decrease the weight and control the movement better and slower, you can try to not go over the 90º mark. You may also have impingement syndrome or an underlying injury. If nothing works and you still get a sharp pain, it's definitely worth switching the exercise and getting checked out by a medical professional.

      Always exhale when lifting (concentric movement) and inhale on the Eccentric movement. When heavy lifts (squats) some like to inhale when standing, bracing the core more, then lower thr weight, then exhale and explode up, concentric movement
